Sample Size Calculation for Matched-Pairs Designs

Please input the following parameters, then click "Calculate" button to calculate sample size.

E(R0) : The mean number of false positive
G0: The anticipated number of undifferentially expressed genes in the experiment
power: The specified power level for an individual gene, which represents the expected proportion of differentially expressed genes that will be declared as such by the tests
|μ1| : The mean difference in log-expression between treatment and control conditions as postulated under the alternative hypothesis H1
σd: The anticipated standard deviation of the difference in log-expression between matched treatment and control conditions
|μ|/σd: Statistical difference between treatment and control conditions under H1
n: Sample size for each group
2n: Total sample size needed for the study
